The university offers courses in Cultural Studies, Medicine and Mathematics in English.
As of 2008, students coming from Moldova, Albania, Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, India, Turkmenistan, South Africa are enrolled as international students. The tuition fee for international students, for an academic undergraduate year, varies from $3200 for technical, economics, humanities, agronomy, sport programs, $3500 for medical and pharmaceutic programs, $4700 for musical and artistic programs, to $7600 for dramatic arts, theatrical and film direction.
Ovidius University of Constanta also offers PhD programms in English, French or Romanian.The students enrolled in the International section are usually asked to learn Romanian during a preparatory year. Due to the resemblance of Romanian with all Latin-based languages, the language test has an extremely high rate of successful results. Additionally, the candidates who speak Romanian can skip the preparatory year after having passed a test of Romanian language. The candidates, who can formally prove that they have studied in Romanian for at least four years consecutively, do not need to pass the Romanian language test or to attend the preparatory year.
Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine is a state-funded Medical Faculty that was founded, as a distinctive and independent structure of “Ovidius” University of Constanţa, under the name ofFaculty of General Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy in 1990. Although it is considered one of the youngest ones in the country, it is one the most dynamic and ambitious among the other Medical Faculties in Romania.
Since 1993, the Faculty of Medicine started the modules of teaching in the English and French language at all levels and specializations, both in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Currently there are over 200 foreign students, enrolled in Undergraduate and Postgraduate study in the English language. The majority of students come from Greece, Israel, Sri Lanka, Norway, Sweden, France, USA, Great Britain, Nigeria, Cameroon, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria and many more.
